Exploratorium Network has exciting things planned for the Caras Pavilion location.

Saturday: September 15, 2007

"Making Meaning" Exhibits free and open to the public, noon - 6:00 pm. MISMO obstacle course and demonstrations free and open to the public, noon - 6:00 pm

Special Events and Programming:

Governer Brian Schweitzer and his dog Jag read Jag's new book. "Book pawing" to follow the reading! (FREE) 10 am
Art of Perception, four hours of hands on activities that marry science and art!
  • Top Bujilding and Name Art with the Children's Mueseum of Missoula (FREE)
  • Animation activites with spectrUM (FREE)
  • The Science of Tie-dying (tie-dye a t-shirt with spectrUM's Super Science Squad while exploring the chemistry of tie-dying, $6.00 FEE)
Noon - 4:00 pm
Basic Practicalities (live band) 3-4 pm
Science Fiction Improvisation Games (Audience and actors spend an hour developing dramatic skills through science skits, FREE) 4-5 pm

  • Predator / prey osteology and elk calls with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (FREE)
  • Sound activites with spectrUM (FREE)
  • The Science of Drum Building (design and build a drum with spectrUM's Super Science Squad while exploring the physics of drum building, FREE)
Noon - 4:00 pm
Parade of Sound (gather for the parade of sound at Caras Park; We'll march from Caras to the music stage, creating a caophony of sounds with elk calls, drums, and instruments at 4:45 pm. Feel free to bring your own instrument! FREE) 4:30 - 5:15 pm
